Last night i witnessed a Historic Event. The first ever Australian Citizen granted Asylum. THANK YOU ECUADOR!

The full speech by Ecuador Foreign Minister is below. Standing up for Human Rights is something we ALL must do. UK, USA, Sweden and Australia have all shown their complete disregard for the rights of humans. We as humanity, must stand for Assange and Bradley Manning. “If you don’t stand for something, You’ll fall for anything”.

Iran’s President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, says he was surprised, during a recent summit in Saudi Arabia.

He said he was astonished to see the monarchs of certain countries speak of the need for reforms in Syria while their own rules were unpopular at home.

Referring to the recent meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Mecca, Ahmadinejad said “I was surprised in this summit to observe that the kings of some countries were speaking against Syria while the majority of their own people do not want them to rule.”

[ PIC 16/08/2012 – 10:25 AM ]

NAZARETH, (PIC)– A group of Israeli human rights organizations presented a petition to the Supreme Court against the government’s plan for the establishment of seven Jewish settlements near Arad city in the Negev desert, south of Palestine occupied in 1948.

The petitioners asserted that the establishment of such settlements means the demolition and deportation of five Bedouin hamlets inhabited by about 800 people. The petition, filed on Tuesday, is in response to the Israeli government’s decision that was issued in October last year.

The Israeli plan aims to develop Negev desert and escalate settlements in the region, where 180 acres will be seized for the establishment of this project, media sources said.

Haaretz newspaper quoted the lawyer Yaron Ben Ezra, Director-General of the brigade settlement in the Negev, as saying that this project aims at relocating Bedouins.

Prominent Bahraini human rights activist Nabeel Rajab has been sentenced to three years in prison, his lawyer says.

Mohammed al-Jishi said on Thursday the court “sentenced Nabeel Rajab to three years in jail over three cases of taking part in unauthorized protests.”

Jishi also stated that the defense team would appeal.

On July 9, the Fifth Minor Criminal Court in Manama also sentenced Rajab, the president of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights, to three months imprisonment for allegedly “insulting” the people of the Muharraq Island on Twitter in June.

Human Rights Watch censured the July 9 court ruling and said, “If anyone is guilty of insult today, it is the Bahraini government, which has reminded citizens they’re not free to express political views.”

On July 5, Rajab called on the international community to stop the Manama regime’s violent crackdown on protesters in Bahrain.

He said the silence…

In an extraordinary interview a member of the Free Syrian Army has cheerfully admitted to summarily executing a gravely injured man, accused without trial of being a Shabiha militia sniper loyal to Bashar al-Assad.

Yaman Hamoud – an assistant in a Dubai GAP clothing store before his return home to Aleppo to take up arms against the Syrian government – recounts how his squad arrested an injured man “disguised as a woman”, who had approached their checkpoint after mistaking it for a government-held post.

According to Hamoud, he and his cohorts asked their commander if they could immediately kill the man, but were told to instead take him to hospital for treatment.
