The Many Faces of its Leader, Sheikh Ahmad Moaz Al-Khatib

by Thierry Meyssan, source

Completely unkown to the international public only a week ago, Sheikh Moaz al-Khatib has been catapulted to the presidency of the Syrian National Coalition, which represents pro-Western opposition in the Damascus government. Portrayed by an intense public relations campaign as a highly moral personality with no partisan or economic attachments, he is in truth a member of the Muslim Brotherhood and an executive of

The dislocation of the armed Syrian opposition is a reflection of the conflict between the various States which are trying to “change the regime” in Damascus.

We should pay particular attention to the Syrian National Council (SNC), also known as the Istanbul Council, since it was instituted there. This council is guided with an iron hand by the French DGSE (Direction Générale de la Sécurité Extérieure), and financed by Qatar. Its members…

Shortly after midnight on Thursday a column of tanks drove slowly down one of the main boulevards of Khartoum. Although residents of Sudan‘s capital of Khartoum awoke hours later to what seemed like another normal day, something significant had taken place during the wee hours. Amid a flurry of conflicting reports and wild rumors, information minister Ahmed Belal Osman announced Thursday that 13 suspects — among them senior officials — had been arrested for plotting against the state. “The government has decided to abort this plot just before the zero hour as a preventive measure to avoid entering the country into chaos,” Osman said.

The news of a coup attempt would have come as little surprise to countless Sudan watchers, who for months have watched storm clouds gather around the regime of President Omar Hassan al-Bashir. Facing armed resistance from restive ethnic groups in all corners of the country, as…

I read the book of Enoch recently, and this definitely opened my mind to a new paradigm of the possible nature of our existence and reality. For those who don’t know, the book of Enoch is but one of the many books that were are not included in the Bible, and I that this was done to suppress truths, in order to keep the masses in the dark and more easily manipulated. Now I’m not very religious and nor am I familiar with a lot of the Bible aside from a few books (Revelations, Genesis, Exodus, Daniel) that I found interesting in terms of prophecy, and history. I was raised Roman Catholic, but I would not consider myself to be a Catholic anymore. I’m eclectic when it comes to religions as I see how all major religions have been used to brainwash the masses throughout history and a lot of…

The following is the first installment of a three-part exclusive for Occupy.com on the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

In 2008, the United States Trade Representative Susan Schwab announced the U.S. entry into the Trans-Pacific Partnership talks as “a pathway to broader Asia-Pacific regional economic integration.” Originating in 2005 as a “Strategic Economic Partnership” between a few select Pacific countries, the TPP has, as of October 2012, expanded to include 11 nations in total: the United States, Canada, Mexico, Peru, Chile, New Zealand, Australia, Brunei, Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia, with the possibility of several more joining in the future.

American Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s hasty diplomatic shuttle from Southeast Asia to the Middle East this week can be seen as reflecting Washington’s priority to shore up stability in the region. It is a deep apprehension to maintain a shaky status quo that motivates Washington’s concern, not negotiating an end to appalling violence and human suffering in Gaza…

Western media has been struggling to question the Israeli narrative when it comes to conflict and perspective.

Few facts, a lot of racism: Palestine in US media

By Charlotte Silver

The worst time to try to grasp a political conflict is during a military confrontation. And yet, it is only at such times that the US media covers the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis.

On November 20, one day before the ceasefire was reached between Palestinians and Israelis and eight days after Israel broke the prior truce by assassinating Ahmed Jabari, Gary Rudoren, the husband of the New York Times‘ Jerusalem Bureau Chief, Jodi Rudoren, disbosomed himself of his anxieties about seeing his wife enter the fray of F-16 and drone strikes on Gaza: ”We’ve been in Israel for five months now. It’s been in my head since the beginning that at some…

Hearings of the Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Commission (KLWCC)

Global Research Editor’s Note

At the height of the bombing of Gaza, legal proceedings directed against the State of Israel involving the initial hearings of the Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Commission were launched in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The decision to launch these proceedings was taken by the Commission in May of 2012.

Pertaining to alleged Israeli war crimes, the Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Commission heard the testimonies of nine complainants.

The following summary of testimonies presented to the Commission provides a historical background on Israeli crimes against humanity extending from the Sabra Shatila Massacres to the 2008-2009 Operation Cast Lead, which resulted in the killings of entire families.

We invite our readers to carefully examine these witness testimonies. They are of crucial importance in an understanding of the current…

The food and farming sector in Gaza has been severely maimed, worsening the condition of agricultural sector.

Behind the Pillar of Cloud Gaza Severely Maimed

By Rami Zurayk and Anne Gough

Since its creation in 1948, Israel has used food and nutrition as a means to entrench its military and territorial occupation of Palestine. While all eyes are turned today to the savage eradication of children and entire families in Gaza through operation “Pillar of Cloud”, Israel pursues its long-term goal of decimating the means of food production, livelihoods and the ability of those in Gaza to make economic and political decisions about what they grow and what they eat.

Gaza and the rest of Occupied Palestine is being restructured as an entity where malnutrition is endemic, access to food is denied and people are forced to live under the constant fear…

If anyone could please translate what the video says into english and post in a comment the english translation and i will update the blog with it. Appreciate any help with translation.

A video posted on YouTube shows the moment when the signal of the Al-Quds Palestinian satellite channel was hijacked by Israel to show a propaganda message directed against leaders of Hamas.

In the brief Arabic-language animation, a rat in a sewer claims that Hamas leaders have been hiding in sewers “like mice and rats.”

The video was recorded by Asem Abdul Karim.

The Electronic Intifada’s correspondent in Gaza, Rami Almeghari, said that such propaganda would be unlikely to have any impact on people there and is generally regarded with mockery.

In recent days, Israel has carried out deliberate attacks on Palestinian media, including the offices of Al-Quds TV and Al-Aqsa TV among others.

Al-Quds TV cameraman Khader al-Zahhar lost his leg in one of these attacks that have drawn widespread international criticism.

Since Israel launched its current assault on Gaza on 15 November, more than 125 Palestinians have been killed, including more than two dozen children, and more than 800 injured.

While Israel claims to be targeting military infrastructure and combatants, it has attacked, in addition to media, banks, public buildings, police stations and other civilian infrastructure and medics at Gaza City’s main hospital say that most of the casualties they see are women and children.

Besides stating the obvious about an unfair war, and about the slaughter of the Palestinian people, I have to say that I don’t care that much this time about the attack in Gaza. I am quite certain that nothing can come out of it that could benefit neither the Israeli nor the Palestinian people.

There is absolutely no possibility that Israel would attempt to recapture Gaza. On the contrary, such conflicts only strengthen militants like Hamas. There is also no possibility that the Palestinians could gain something out of this conflict. Hamas’ blind rockets can never push Israel to a retreat, and definitely do not help them towards Israelis accepting a possible Independent Palestinian state.

The whole conflict looks like a political game by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. With this war “Bibi” is attempting to strengthen himself ahead of January’s elections in Israel, just like Ehud Olmert did in December 2008, before his scandals chocked him up.

GAZA, (PIC)– Israeli occupation forces shelled on Monday for the second day al-Shorouk media building in Gaza City, houses several international media offices in Gaza City, located west of the city of Gaza, killing a young man and injuring seven others.

Ambulance crews recovered the body of the martyr Ramiz Najib Hareb totally burned after targeting his office directly, PIC reporter confirmed.

Local sources said that Israeli forces fired a rocket at al-Shorouk tower west of Gaza City, targeting the first floor where the fire broke out on the first four floors.

The sources added that the plumes of smoke erupted from the tower where ambulance crews arrived to the scene and transported a number of wounded to the hospital.

The Israeli warplanes bombed the tower itself, two days before, where the occupation forces have warned the residents to evacuate it before bombing…

[ PIC 19/11/2012 – 09:47 PM ]

RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Secretary-general of the Palestinian popular committees against the wall and settlements, Azmi al-Shyoukhi, stated that the daily confrontations between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian youths in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem are the beginnings of a real outbreak of a third intifada.

Al-Shyoukhi told Quds Press on Monday that “the daily confrontations taking place in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem constitute the beginnings of a real third intifada in response to the war crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip”.

Al-Shyoukhi considered that the Palestinian movement in the West Bank “will turn to a massive popular uprising in light of the continued Israeli aggression on Gaza,” calling for escalating the popular resistance in all occupied territories in support of the besieged Gaza Strip that witnesses a continuous Israeli military aggression which started six days ago.

Al-Shyoukhi called on Palestinian…

A new wave of hatred towards Palestine is sweeping through Israel from public figures to the man on the street. This hostility is in sharp contrast to efforts in Cairo, where Arab leaders and Western diplomats are trying to hammer out a peace plan.

While Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) official Nabil Sheath expressed hope Sunday night that negotiations would continue, very different noises were coming out of Israel.

Interior Minister Eli Yishai said Operation Pillar of Defense would continue and likely be expanded, a reference to the possibility that a ground offensive has already been given the go-ahead.

The war in Gaza “must be so painful and difficult that the terror groups will not think twice but a hundred times before they fire missiles against Israel again,” it was reported in The Israel National News.

“Destroy and damage infrastructure, public buildings and government buildings. We must make sure that Hamas…
