An analyst says the US and Israel is getting away with what any other country would not, initiating terrorism as a tool to topple a sovereign government.

In the background of this, insurgents in Syria have carried out threats to storm Christian towns in the central province killing several civilians in one village before being chased off by Syrian forces. Insurgents are bolstered by NATO support in the form of the deployment of US Patriot missile systems and troops along the Turkish Syria border. UN Arab League Envoy Lakhdar Ibrahimi is in Syria now to work for a political solution, but the US and its allies seem only interested in a NATO-supported military intervention to achieve an overthrow of the Assad government and the death of many innocent men, women and children.

December 26, 2012HEALTHBangladesh’s livestock authorities are slaughtering around 150,000 chickens at a giant poultry farm near Dhaka after the worst outbreak of avian flu in five years, officials said Wednesday. The deadly H5N1 strain of flu was detected at Bay Agro farm at Gazipur, 40 kilometers (25 miles) north of Dhaka, on Monday after dozens of chickens died, prompting the company to send samples to a laboratory for tests. “There are about 150,000 chickens at the farm. We have already killed and destroyed 120,000 chickens and we will kill the rest today,” livestock department director Mosaddeq Hossain told AFP, adding it was the worst bird flu outbreak in five years. Bangladesh was hit by bird flu in February 2007, when over one million birds were slaughtered on thousands of farms. Since then the flu has entrenched in the country, seriously ravaging one of the world’s largest…

RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Hardline Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu renewed on Tuesday his vow to continue supporting the expansion and building of settlements in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

“With God’s help we will continue to live and build in Jerusalem, which will continue to stand undivided under Israeli sovereignty,” Netanyahu said at an event held for the launch of the Likud-Beiteinu electoral alliance.

“Over the past few years, we have done a lot to empower the settlements and will continue to do so,” he stressed further.

Leader of Beiteinu party and former Israeli foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman, in turn, addressed the settlement issue as well during the event.

“We have one dispute with the global community,” he said. “This dispute is about…

A Bahraini appeals court commuted on Wednesday to life imprisonment the death sentences of two Bahraini activists during last year’s uprisings, lawyers said.

Ali Abdullah Hassan al-Singace and Abdul Aziz Hussein, who were sentenced by a special Bahraini court in May last year, will now be jailed for life.

The court reduced the terms of four others held over the same case from life imprisonment to 15 years in jail, the lawyers said. A seventh defendant, whose sentence was also commuted to 15 years behind bars, remains at large.

The group was accused under the pretext of running over two policemen, during the uprising in the kingdom ruled by al-Khalifa dynasty.

The national safety court’s verdict the next month drew international condemnation, with Amnesty International urging Bahrain to scrap the executions.

The court was set up under a state of national safety, a lower level of emergency law declared…

Israel has violated Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity over 3,000 times in 2012 in blatant violation of UN Security Council resolution, Press TV reports.

In the year 2012, Israel has approximately violated Lebanon’s sovereignty 3,400 times through air, water and ground.

The UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which brokered a ceasefire in the war of aggression Israel launched against Lebanon in 2006, calls on Israel to respect Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The most frequent breaches of Israel are overflights by Israeli war planes and drones to Lebanese skies.

Following Israel’s 2006 attack on Lebanon, the total number of violations exceeded 20,000, which is an average of more than nine violations per day.

Lebanon has filed numerous complaints to the United Nations, presenting documents pertaining to Israeli violations. But Israel continues its violation of Lebanon’s airspace.

“These continuous Israeli violations are clear proof of the hostile nature of…

IOA razes home for second time in Jebel Mukaber

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– An Israeli municipal bulldozer demolished on Tuesday the house of a Palestinian citizen in Salla’a neighborhood in Jebel Mukaber district, east Jerusalem, at the pretext of unlicensed construction.

Home-owner Mohamed Za’atera said his new house was rebuilt of four prefabricated rooms five months ago after the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) had razed his house in the first time.

Za’atera added that when the IOA had knocked down his house six years ago, he had to move to live with his parents, but because of the limited space in their home, he had to buy refabricated rooms and put them on his own land in Salla’a neighborhood.

Despite the natural increase of their population, the Palestinian natives in Jerusalem find themselves unable to build homes without being destroyed by the IOA.

They try hard to get the…

The Extinction Protocol

December 27, 2012MANAGUA, Nicaragua(AP) — Nicaraguan authorities say they’ve ordered the evacuation of some 300 families living on the flanks of the country’s highest volcano after it began spewing hot gas and ash Tuesday. Some 1,500 farmers living on the slopes of the San Cristobal volcano refused to leave, despite being ordered to evacuate as the volcano spewed gas, sand and ash. “People have not evacuated because we do not want to go and leave the area abandoned,” Maria Pereira told AFP. Pereira lives in “Grecia 4,” a community of about 600 people at the base of the volcano, in the Chinandega department. She said columns of ash “bathed the trees, houses, and roads in white” and “pretty sand fell” in the morning. She said by early afternoon volcanic activity had decreased, though in the evening new columns of ash shot up. In another community near the…
