AL-KHALIL, (PIC)– Jewish settlers, on Wednesday under the protection of the Israeli army, removed a wall inside the corridors of the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil city in the southern occupied West Bank and stole its stones.

Taysir Abu Sneineh, the Director General of the Ministry of Endowments in al-Khali, told Quds Press that the cleaners of the Ibrahimi Mosque found yesterday that the settlers, with the support of the Israeli occupation army, removed an ancient wall inside the mosque and took its stones to an unknown destination

Abu Sneineh considered that this act represents a blatant assault on the Ibrahimi Mosque and aims to change the mosque’s features and Judaize it, under the protection and support of the Israeli government.

images_News_2013_05_05_demolish_300_0[1]NAZARETH, (PIC)– Israeli authorities demolished a Palestinian home in Arraba town to the north of Palestine occupied in 1948 on Sunday at the pretext it was built without permit.

Palestinian sources said that a big number of police forces escorted bulldozers that razed the building, which was under construction, in Wadi Hussein.

They said that the demolition took place without prior notice, Noor Lahwani, the son of the house owner, said, adding that his family filed a complaint with the Israeli police as it did not receive any demolition notification from the Israeli organization and construction committee.

The sources warned of an Israeli scheme to knock down dozens of Palestinian houses in the same area for lack of construction permits.

Photograph: Ariel Schalit/AP Harriet Sherwood in Jerusalem The British government has warned that the official authorisation of Israel’s first settlement university will create another hurdle in the peace process. Israel’s defence secretary, Ehud Barak, approved the upgrade of a college in the settlement of Ariel, 11 miles inside the West Bank, earlier this week. In a statement released on Thursday, the British foreign office minister Alistair Burt said the UK was deeply disappointed by the decision. “Ariel is beyond the Green Line in a settlement that is illegal according to international law. This decision will deepen the presence of the settlements in the Palestinian territories and will create another obstacle to peace,” the statement said. Burt repeated the government’s call for Israel to reverse a recent spate of settlement expansion plans, saying it should “take no further steps aimed at expanding or entrenching settlement activity”. A spokesman for the Israeli foreign ministry said it was “disappointing to see that a [UK Foreign Office] minister should adopt the contested Palestinian position hook, line and sinker, thus adding controversy where it is already in excess”. Britain and other European countries have become increasingly vocal in their criticism of Israel’s plans to build thousands of new homes in settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. They say such expansion threatens the possibility of a viable Palestinian state. An internal analysis paper prepared by Israel’s foreign ministry has warned that the European Union may press for the establishment of a Palestinian state independent of negotiations in 2013. According to a report in Haaretz, the paper said: “A growing understanding can be seen in the EU of the ineffectiveness of the current process. Read the full report here

Israeli occupation forces used Hyundai and Caterpillar equipment to demolish Palestinian buildings and cisterns in the villages of al-Deirat and Jawaya in the south Hebron Hills area of the occupied West Bank on Tuesday.

This is an area of intense Israeli settlement activity, where some villages, such as Susya, have been ordered totally destroyed by the occupation forces.

Video shot by Operation Dove (website) shows bulldozers, accompanied by Israeli occupation forces, carrying out demolitions of a two storey home belonging to Mohammad Musa Mohammad Abu Aram, and a rainwater cistern belonging to Mahmud Ahmed Nasser Nawaja, as distraught villagers watched.

Both Caterpillar and Hyundai have come under intense pressure, and Caterpillar in particular is the target of a broad divestment campaign, because of complicity in Israeli human rights abuses.

Israel had demolished 476 Palestinian owned structures in the occupied West Bank in 2012, as of September’s…

A report prepared and published by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) accused the state of Israel of failing to prosecute Israeli soldiers and settlers who commit crimes against the Palestinian people in the occupied territories, the Arabs48 News Website reported.

The report said that there is a serious increase in attacks carried out by settlers and soldiers against the unarmed Palestinian civilians in the occupied West Bank, including in occupied East Jerusalem.

The report was submitted to the Human Rights Council during its Monday session in Geneva, and states that “Israel has failed to conduct the needed legal measures against Israeli soldiers and settlers who practice violence against the Palestinians and their property”.

The report also revealed that an Israeli soldier, who was questioned by Israel for killing a Palestinian mother and her daughter, never…

BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) — Israeli bulldozers uprooted agricultural land in the Bethlehem village of al-Khader on Monday, a local committee said.

Ahmad Salah, spokesman for the local committee against the wall and settlements, told Ma’an that five dunams of private Palestinian land were leveled in al-Absiyya, near the settlement of Elazar.

Olive trees and a well belonging to Riziq Muhammad Hussein Salah were also destroyed.

Settlers led by a female leader then stole several uprooted olive trees and took them away in trucks, Salah said.

“Her name is Nadia Matar the founder of the settler group known as women in green. This group maintains that all hills in the Etzion area must be under settler control to build religious schools and parks,” he added.

Last week, Israeli forces moved part of a military checkpoint near al-Khader, witnesses said.

Eyewitnesses told Ma’an that a checkpoint…
